We are a local, private music school interested only in music education. We are not a commercial store where they are interested in selling instruments and selling merchandise, and music lessons are an afterthought.
Our instructors are excellent. They are highly qualified, All have music degrees. But more importantly, they all have many years of experience and know how to teach! Also, our instructors are NOT independent contractors! They teach for Townsend. You do not know what you are getting with an independent contractor who just works for him or herself in a store.
Students are accepted year round, and this is an excellent time to begin lessons! Lessons times are available during the week and on Saturday.
TOWNSEND MUSIC SCHOOL offers lessons in piano, voice, violin, viola, flute, guitar, theory and composition.
Beginner to advanced, age 4 and up. (including adults, our teachers are great with adults!)
Because our staff is made up of professional musicians, we can teach the beginner as well as the very
advanced student. (Several of our instructors hold Masters degrees in music as well as Bachelor of
Music degrees) In addition, our instructors are ALL excellent, proficient musicians. We have been teaching
the correct way to play or sing for over 61 years. Students learn to read music, count, and play. They also
learn the correct posture, correct technique, theory, etc.
Some music history and music appreciation is also included.

It is of utmost importance for children to start with the right teacher from the very beginning. It is
very important to have a teacher who can relate to each student. You need to make sure the
teacher knows how to play, read music, and count. You know for sure that you have the right
teacher when you come to Townsend.
While many of our students are beginners, our teachers are artists who can handle even the most
advanced of students. We accept all ages, from 4 to senior citizen.
You will see the difference with our school. We love to teach and are very proud of each
