TOWNSEND MUSIC SCHOOL offers lessons in piano, voice, violin, viola, flute, guitar, theory and composition.
WE ARE NOT A COMMERCIAL STORE where their primary interest is in renting and selling instruments and selling merchandise.
We are interested in providing a QUALITY MUSIC EDUCATION.
In addition to accepting beginning students, we accept continuing students who are looking for a more qualified instructor than their current teacher. Many teachers cannot handle students who become more advanced. That is the time to come to Townsend. If you have outgrown your present teacher, we have instructors who are very experienced in handling the situation.
We are highlighting our combination singing/piano lessons for younger children at the current time. Combining the piano with the singing allows the student to understand the relationship of pitches, learn intervals, learn to read notes, and much more. This is the perfect way to begin learning good singing techniques.

Because our staff is made up of professional musicians, we can teach the beginner as well as the very advanced student.
(Several of our instructors hold Masters degrees in music as well as Bachelor of Music degrees) In addition, our instructors are ALL excellent, proficient musicians.
We have been teaching the correct way to play or sing for over 60 years.
Students learn to read music, count, and play. They also learn the correct posture, correct technique, theory, etc.
Some music history and music appreciation is also included.

It is of utmost importance for children to start with the right teacher from the very beginning. It is very important to have a teacher who can relate to each student. You need to make sure the teacher knows how to play, read music, and count. This all sounds very basic, but teachers with these qualities are few and far between.
